The Department of Chemical Engineering was introduced in the academic year 2019-20, with the intake of 60 students which offers a UG programme (B.Tech) in Chemical Engineering. Chemical Engineering is a discipline influencing numerous areas of technology. In broad terms Chemical Engineers conceive and design processes to produce, transform and transport materials – beginning with experimentation in laboratory followed by implementation of the technology in full scale production. It’s hardly surprising that chemical engineers are known as ‘Universal Engineers’. Chemical Engineers apply the principles of chemistry, biology, physics, and math to solve problems that involve the production or use of chemicals, fuel, drugs, food, and many other products. They design processes and equipment for large-scale manufacturing.
The chemical engineers are in great demand due to large scale industries are desirable for materials processing and synthesis. The current technological world allows chemical engineers to work in electronic device fabrication, environment engineering, pharmaceuticals, fertilizers, agro industries, nuclear power, defence, mining, leather, petro-chemicals, oil refineries, textiles and biotechnology. The chemical engineers need to understand both engineering and scientific processes. By speculating this, the curriculum has been designed to include mathematics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, energy, heat & mass transfer, reaction engineering & process design, chemical reaction kinetics, separation technologies, waste water treatment, solid material handling and artificial intelligence. Our individualized approach is correspondence to individual attention to students. Even though the department is young, students have chance to work with professors and faculty from research to homework help by bringing the world of opportunities at students reach.
To produce dynamic Engineers with excellence in process operations and problem-solving skills to meet the challenges and drive for the growth of the nation.
M1: To foster engineers with quality engineering education to meet the challenging and developing technology in the chemical sectors.
M2: To prepare students for leadership in diverse careers, create knowledge and provide multidisciplinary solutions to broad societal problems.
M3: To emphasize on the practical aspects of research, innovation and ensuring the realities of sustainable development.
Graduates of Chemical Engineering will be able to:
PEO 1: Participate as leaders in their fields of expertise and in activities that support service and economic development nationally and throughout the world.
PE0 2: Pursue continued life-long learning through professional practice, research and training programs in the field of chemical engineering and science.
PE0 3: Solve real-life problems in a broad perspective to fulfill ethical, economic, environmental and social responsibilities.
Graduates of Chemical Engineering will be able to:
PSO 1: Apply the knowledge of unit processes and operations for the design of Chemical plant.
PSO 2: Acquire working knowledge of process safety and environment issues in Chemical Processes.
PSO 3: Innovate and integrate the new ideas of Chemical Engineering processes as a team for the complex problems and development of chemical industries.
“Start a career and be pinnacled as universal engineers”
We believe that a vibrant undergraduate program can attract the young minds and craft them to be master in physical, chemical, engineering process and design. Students are carefully and creatively shaped to solve complex problems like translating molecular information into new products and process through systematic programs in association with industry and academia. We endeavor to create environment to welcome students to participate and work together with faculty to create better Chemical Engineering Department in HiCET. We seek new opportunities with industries to mould our students to match industry needs. We as a chemical engineers make a difference in every day quality of life of everybody. Our educational model is designed to enable our chemical engineering students to develop and integrate technical and scientific knowledge through simultaneous and bit-by-bit competency development of social and management skills. External training from industry and continuous learning with online education providers like NPTEL, Coursera and Edx, of help the students to develop the competencies. We realize the demand for skilled professionals in water treatment and process industries, our institute connect with industry like Zero Discharge Technologies to understand the advanced water treatment processes in the chemical and its allied industries. This industrial connects help our students to make them industry ready.
